A brief background:
For nearly 20 years, I have worked in the areas of strategic planning, strategy execution and performance improvement experience with all sizes of organizations both in the private and public/non-profit sectors. As practitioner, teacher and researcher, I have helped senior management teams improve their abilities to plan strategy, manage against the plan and put smart systems in place to keep organizations moving in the right directions.
I have held a variety of professional services positions within Deloitte, GE Capital, PricewaterhouseCoopers, and most recently as Vice President with the Palladium Group’s Balanced Scorecard Collaborative. While at Palladium Group, three of my clients were inducted into the Balanced Scorecard Hall of Fame for Strategy Execution. Further, my client work is featured in three books and cited as best practice case studies by Balanced Scorecard creators, Drs. Kaplan and Norton, and I helped architect the strategy development methodology featured in the 2008 Harvard Business Publishing book, The Execution Premium. I have spent my career working inside organizations that know how to get strategy done.
I am currently a strategy and performance coach -http://www.edbarrows.com/index.htm and lecture at Babson College, teaching Operations Management and also at Boston College, where I teach Strategic Management. I hold a B.S. in Business Administration from the School of Management at Boston University, an M.B.A from the McDonough School of Business at Georgetown University and am currently pursuing a D.B.A at Cranfield University’s School of Management in England. Finally, I am an active researcher in Cranfield’s Centre for Business Performance and also hold a CPA license in Virginia.
